We are excited to be invited by Joycie Mederick of Cinnamon Productions to cover the Hot Couture Fashion Show as well as shoot our legendary SwimWear Issue at the Sugar Beach Resort in St. Lucia.

This is the location that Matt Damon from Oceans 12 got married. George Clooney and the rest of the cast stayed.….DARLING…. and we are Over The Moon to be able to utilize this luxury resort.

The Fashion Avenue News Team consist of Celebrity Photographer and Managing Partner, Allison V. Brown.  Allison will direct the SwimWear shoot and scout the ideal locations at the Sugar Beach.  Paul Walker, known for capturing that right photo at any event or runway show, will work closely with the models, getting that photo just right.   Dwight Eubanks, Styling Director for Fashion Avenue News magazine, will make sure everything comes together……FABULOUSLY…….

Editor-in-Chief, Sofia Davis will, of course, be Networking to build a Fashion Bridge between St. Lucia and New York City.  The goal is to develop Fashion Avenue News Magazine – St. Lucia, and we start with the SwimWear issue.

We look forward to a long term Fashion Relationship with the island of St. Lucia and Joycie Mederick of Cinnamon Productions.

China Beauty Expo Cements its Position in the Beauty Industry

Shanghai’s Original, Unparalleled Beauty Event since 1998

China Beauty Expo (CBE), Asia’s leading beauty trade, recently concluded its 20th edition on a high note, reinforcing its status as the definitive exhibition for the market.

2,120 (an increase of 15% from 2014) suppliers from all over the world, including Cheislie Formulations, Jala, L’oreal, P&G and Reef Cosmetics, Shanghai Jahwa, showcased the latest beauty and cosmetics innovations during the three-day event.  This year’s event occupied over 150,000 sqm (an increase of more than 20% from 2014) of exhibition space.

Held in Shanghai New International Expo Center from 19 to 21 May 2015, CBE registered a total of 312,000 visits from trade professionals from across the region, which represented a 14% increase compared to 2014. This year, a large proportion of visitors were senior decision-makers, including executives from companies such as SASA, Sephora, Watsons and a number of leading distributor Claudia BONFIGLIOLI, International Director, Informa Beauty and Informa Baiwen (CBE), said, “The global beauty market has been projected to reach new heights, with Asia continuing to lead the global market in the years ahead. The show is well poised to support the industry’s growth, and we look forward to bringing more of the industry together to help them realize the full potential that the market possesses.”

Professional Trade Event

Exhibitors at this year’s event were pleased with their decision to participate, citing the show’s audience, the focus on doing business, and its level of professionalism as key benefits. In addition, returning exhibitors found the show had grown in stature, not just in terms of attendance but also with the addition of new visitor attractions, such as the WeChat Conference and CBE-Beyond Beauty Trends Conference.

As part of its efforts to connect businesses, the organizers held the inaugural Business Meetings Asia, where a carefully selected group of exhibitors presented their products to specially selected senior buyers from China and six other countries.

Building Lab and the Beauty Ingredients & Formulation Shanghai Conference.  These visitor attractions help visitors maximize their time at the show by drawing their attention to the upcoming beauty trends, as well as complimentary one-on-one vision consultations.

Having received critical acclaims from participants all around, the next edition of CBE looks set to be a bigger and stronger business platform as the organizers, Informa and Shanghai Baiwen, are committed to serve the global beauty industry with this event in the years ahead.

The renowned designer returns to her roots for the show of a lifetime!

Couturier Clariscia (pronounced Clar-ee-sha) Gill is clearly passionate about her work. Not only does it show in the fine attention to detail displayed in the cut and finish of her designs, it is clearly evidenced by the 15 year strong loyal clientele whom visit her Mayfair based Atelier.

A mixture of men and women from all the five continents which includes musical artists and celebrities.  All are united by their discerning style savvy attraction to Clariscia Gill Couture’s famous three C’s. Cloth, Cut and Colour.

Clariscia’s passion for design and the cut of good cloth came from her mother.  Her mother was born in French Guiana and as a young teenager emigrated to St Lucia where she met Clariscia’s father, George Gill.  Losing her mother from a sudden death at the age of ten was a shock but it somehow spurred Clariscia on to want to make her mum proud as she was the one who sparked Clariscia’s fashion interest. Clariscia would sit fascinated watching her mother sew.  Clariscia cherished the small hand wheel Singer Sewing machine her mother had given her as a child.

A keen eyed relief needlework teacher at school saw early on that Clariscia showed a particular talent in sewing and drawing so he made it his duty to encourage her to attend the London College of Fashion where he worked part time.

Clariscia reveals the single most frequently requested item to be trousers of which she has developed styles to accommodate the rich variety of body shapes we all come in.

Clariscia insists each new client has a unique pants toile made first in calico in order to get the correct fit before the trousers are made in the finest plain or pinstripe wools, some available with a slight stretch for all important comfort.

Over the years, demand from clients for her to make their wedding dresses grew and it became clear that Clariscia’s designs for the modern bride who had no desire to go down the aisle looking like ‘Tinkerbelle Fairy’.

These brides wanted a more subtle elegant style, sometimes even a non-white dress, maybe something with sleeves or a shorter dress.  As a result, the first bridal range was designed, again taking into account the interchangeable aspect by including neat shrug jackets and light organza coats to go with the dresses two-pieces and even trousers for the different body shapes and personalities.

The Atelier

Discreetly housed for the past 15 years in a charming 18th century Courtyard Mews next to world Fenwicks of New Bond St, the setting of her appointment based operation provides her clientele a haven of tranquillity to retreat to and stop for a lunch time treat in one of the many high profile restaurants that surround.

It is easy to see why the clients return as Clariscia gently guides them through the motions of selecting essential pieces from her collection. Clients experience advice on dressing for the given season without compromising on their own personality and skilfully, Clariscia refuses for clients to be moulded into fashion clones.

FASHION AVENUE NEWS EDITORIAL SHOOT WITH Germany’s next Topmodel

Fashion Avenue News magazine, known globally for their coverage of worldwide fashion events, had the opportunity to shoot an editorial with Germany’s next Topmodel for their March 2016 issue.

The editorial team, led by Allison V. Brown, set everything up from the audition process, location scouting, designer selection and make up.  The editorial theme was “ACTION” and designer, Kenya Smith of Planet Zero Motorsport, featured a sizzling array of leather dresses, jumpsuits, topped off by matching helmets and gloves.  Working with celebrity Makeup Artists Lenny Hamilton and Melanie Santos, along with Avant Garde Hair stylists, Tiffany Brown, bought the entire look together.

Sofia Davis, Editor-in-Chief of the luxury, fashion brand, stated it was very hard to choose a one cover model, as all of the models did a very nice job.

Rubin Singer’s fall / winter 2016 collection began with an exploration of his intentions as a designer. Staying true to his core image of architectural femininity, Singer delves into new categories, new shapes, and new fabrics for the new season. Unique in his approach to designing, Singer starts with an inspiration, such as the mathematical formulation “Homomorphism” (that any given formula ends up in the same place no matter how many times you change it), which is the hallmark for the fall / winter 2016 season, and then moves to fabrics – textures & colors – and from there the shape and pattern of his creations are revealed.

This collection, which debuts knitwear and more ready-to-wear separates, is a continuation of Singer’s spring / summer 2016 mathematical inspiration “vector.” Late 60’s and early 70’s undertones echo throughout the collection in the form of separates, day dresses, and dramatic evening gowns.  Multi directional silk chiffon dresses, glass embroidered eveningwear, and duchess satin jackets continue to show Rubin’s technical use of classic fabrics. Touches of Indian lamb, python, and velvet add to the sophistication and drama seen in a Rubin Singer collection, and geometric shapes and silhouettes convey the overall season inspiration.
