RIHANNA "SETS IT OFF" AT BERGDORFS

It’s every designer’s dream to have their collection be carried at Bergdorf Goodman,” Rihanna proclaimed Tuesday afternoon at a frenzied personal appearance for the retail unveiling of her fall Fenty by Puma collection.

The Barbadian singer was joined by Bergdorf president Joshua Schulman and “homegirl Linda,” senior vice president, fashion office and store presentation Linda Fargo — as a contingent of Rihanna fans swarmed the retailer’s fifth floor, tunes blaring.

The majority of attendees appeared to be students from nearby fashion universities, including the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Parsons School of Design.

While scheduled for 3 p.m., the event didn’t start until nearly two hours past its call time — leaving some attendees with a dilemma.

Ariana, a 20-year-old student at FIT, said she was “debating if I should skip class, I have merchandising math at 5:10.” Spotted an hour later, it appeared that she had.

“I want to get the creepers,” Ariana said of her intentions for staying — noting that the continuously sold-out style is a must-have item amongst the FIT student body. “Before this, no one was buying Puma. [Rihanna] managed to make it big again,” she added.

Aasha, a 19-year-old New School student and intern for Alastair McKimm — who styled the fall Fenty for Puma campaign, already has a pair of creepers. She was in the room to nab one of the collection’s fur hoodies. “I like the collection — it is a mix of edgy and girliness at the same time.”

Whitney Lam, founder of the women’s lifestyle blog Nitrolicious, summed up Fenty’s popularity: “Anything Rihanna touches becomes popular. There is not really women’s streetwear like this produced with a big brand.”

Within 15 minutes of Rihanna’s ribbon-cutting, Bergdorf’s stock of shoes had sold out, as well as much of its apparel.

Schulman in his opening remarks at the event said, “The whole world is talking about ath-leisure, but here at Bergdorf’s we are all about ath-glamour.”

Discussing the decision to welcome Rihanna to Bergdorf’s, Schulman told WWD, “For us, Rihanna is an icon and when we first saw the [Fenty fashion] show Linda Fargo and I were so excited about it because we really felt that our customer would love this. It’s a very sexy, very modern approach to activewear.

Le Coiffure Yacht Fashion & Dinner Event – Boss Lady Wendy Isaac DELIVERS

File_000(1)

Rain, sleet, hail or storm, a FASHION SHOW must go ON…. And go on it did as Boss Lady Wendy Isaac produced the Le Coiffure Yacht Fashion Event.

Even the threat of RAIN and HIGH WINDS could not keep the REAL Fashionistas from attending this All White Event.

When I arrived the house was in full swing, the models were getting made up, the VIP/Press/Media were ready and Boss Lady Wendy Isaac had everything under control.  Then up rolled the food trucks lead by Henry Marshman… (I did not know the man could cook like this)…. everyone was happy to see him.  As we wait for the Yacht to arrive, we network, Press/Media/Supermodels on hand were Joe Clarke and Anthony Pierre of RunwayNews.com, Editor-in-Chief Lloyd Crawford of i-Fashion Magazine, Sofia Davis, Editor-in-Chief of Fashion Avenue News, Model World Magazine and The FAN Daily Fashion Blog (www.btetv.wordpress.com), JD Murphy Editor-in-Chief of RARE Magazine, Ese, Editor-in-Chief of Enspire Magazine, Photographer Paul Walker, SuperModel Avadora, Brand Ambassador of the Avadora the Perfume, Carly – Creative MUA, Photographer Brother Michael Williams, Lady Andrene Red Carpet Host, Kelly Phoenix (follow the Phoenix), designer Peter of Yamon Wear, Supermodel Gio, and many others.

Once on board, Boss Lady Wendy wasted no time in getting everything in place, what a beautiful setting.  10mins to ShowTime…

What a show, the models Slayed & Sashayed on the runway, giving you entertainment as well as respect for the designers garment, they sold the clothes.  The accessories were to DIE FOR, (where is the lady with the jewelry, will someone please give her my number or email).  She had COUTURE, STATEMENT jewels that gave every garment an extra touch.

File_000(3)

One of the things I like about the event , they had models of all sizes, heights and weights.  You could see yourself on the Runway.  The other excellent part is, IT STARTED ON TIME….(everyone knows I have a pet peeve about starting on time)… Boss Lady Wendy did not disappoint.

File_000(4)

The designers were WONDERFUL, showing figure flattering creative designs with elegant lines and graceful silhouettes.  (more details on designers will be coming shortly.).  The show also featured a treat for the ladies, men in swimwear.  What a nice addition to the show.

Boss Lady Wendy, gave gift bags to all the Press/Media/Designers, there was something for everyone, no one even noticed the rain.  (what rain – LOL)

WENDY ISSAC EVENT

When it comes to Fashion, the show must go on and Boss Lady, Wendy Isaac delivered.

Boss Lady, keep up the good work.

Note: Thank you to all the Media/Press/Sponsors/MUA/Hairstylists/Accessory Designers/Fashion Designers/Models. A more detailed review coming soon.

ST. LUCIA HOT COUTURE FEATURES DESIGNER CLARISCIA GILL – CG COUTURE

CLARISCIA GILL – CG COUTURE

IMG_9242 ed

The renowned designer returns to her roots for the show of a lifetime!

Couturier Clariscia (pronounced Clar-ee-sha) Gill is clearly passionate about her work. Not only does it show in the fine attention to detail displayed in the cut and finish of her designs, it is clearly evidenced by the 15 year strong loyal clientele whom visit her Mayfair based Atelier.

A mixture of men and women from all the five continents which includes musical artists and celebrities.  All are united by their discerning style savvy attraction to Clariscia Gill Couture’s famous three C’s. Cloth, Cut and Colour.

Clariscia’s passion for design and the cut of good cloth came from her mother.  Her mother was born in French Guiana and as a young teenager emigrated to St Lucia where she met Clariscia’s father, George Gill.  Losing her mother from a sudden death at the age of ten was a shock but it somehow spurred Clariscia on to want to make her mum proud as she was the one who sparked Clariscia’s fashion interest. Clariscia would sit fascinated watching her mother sew.  Clariscia cherished the small hand wheel Singer Sewing machine her mother had given her as a child.

A keen eyed relief needlework teacher at school saw early on that Clariscia showed a particular talent in sewing and drawing so he made it his duty to encourage her to attend the London College of Fashion where he worked part time.

St Lucia Hot Couture Show, May 3rd-8th 2016

Saint Lucia Hot Couture

Next month, Clariscia is billed as a headlining International Fashion Designer at this years St Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival, hosted at the prestigious Sandals Grande, Design District Serenity Park, St Lucia. Gill will be joined by international sponsor, Iman Cosmetics and reality TV Star Dwight Eubanks from The Real House Wives of Atlanta (responsible for Phaedra Parks lavish and extravagant fashion parties) plus performances featuring Musical Icons: Shaggy, Marc Anthony (J-Lo) and George Benson and a host of other celebrities’ (for full line up, visit: http://stluciajazz.org)

Each designer has been awarded:

Professional Hair and Makeup provided by Iman Cosmetics, a professional team of experienced dressers, a designer bio feature in Commemorative Magazine, an introduction to the most influential buyers in the Caribbean (approximately 40 buyers ranging from local boutiques to regional and international stores), 100% Press attendance rate, with front row features by the best fashion writers from around the Caribbean and the US. From Fashion Avenue News to NYC Vogue.

The collection comprises day, evening and a bridal wear range.

The relaxed interchangeable suits and separates portray a modern look suitable to take you from the office to that evening reception.

Clariscia reveals the single most frequently requested item to be trousers of which she has developed styles to accommodate the rich variety of body shapes we all come in.

Clariscia insists each new client has a unique pants toile made first in calico in order to get the correct fit before the trousers are made in the finest plain or pinstripe wools, some available with a slight stretch for all important comfort.

CG BridalIMG_0096

Over the years, demand from clients for her to make their wedding dresses grew and it became clear that Clariscia’s designs for the modern bride who had no desire to go down the aisle looking like ‘Tinkerbelle Fairy’.

These brides wanted a more subtle elegant style, sometimes even a non-white dress, maybe something with sleeves or a shorter dress.  As a result, the first bridal range was designed, again taking into account the interchangeable aspect by including neat shrug jackets and light organza coats to go with the dresses two-pieces and even trousers for the different body shapes and personalities.

The Atelier

Discreetly housed for the past 15 years in a charming 18th century Courtyard Mews next to world Fenwicks of New Bond St, the setting of her appointment based operation provides her clientele a haven of tranquillity to retreat to and stop for a lunch time treat in one of the many high profile restaurants that surround.

It is easy to see why the clients return as Clariscia gently guides them through the motions of selecting essential pieces from her collection. Clients experience advice on dressing for the given season without compromising on their own personality and skilfully, Clariscia refuses for clients to be moulded into fashion clones.

Clariscia’s ethos is that the garments must earn their place in your wardrobe so the pieces are carefully designed in order that the wearer gets maximum looks by being able to interchange the key items.
