Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row is Ready to Kick Off New York Fashion Week™



Macy’s is ready to kick off New York Fashion Week and bring it closer to fans everywhere as Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row, a runway spectacle mixing music, fashion and compassion, hits the stage at The Theater at Madison Square Garden and television screens nationwide with a one-hour entertainment special. On Wednesday, Sep. 7 at 7:30 p.m., live from the capital of American fashion, Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row will open the exclusive doors to fashion’s biggest week with spectacular presentations of the fall season’s hottest looks and musical performances from superstars Ariana Grande and Flo Rida. The show will be hosted by Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and is set to air nationwide on E!, Thursday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. In addition to the theatrical and television presentations, Macy’s will bring the glitz and glamour of fashion week to 25 markets nationwide via special in-store events featuring celebrity appearances, fashion presentations, and more.

Macy’s fashion week theatrical catwalk will feature sensational presentations of designs from I.N.C. International Concepts, Kenneth Cole, RACHEL Rachel Roy, Ryan Seacrest Distinction, Tallia, and Tommy Hilfiger. In addition, Justin Timberlake’s William Rast collection will be presented for the first-time-ever at a New York Fashion Week event. The runway firsts continue with the world-exclusive debut of Betsey Johnson xox Trolls, a special collection inspired by DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature film “Trolls,” which opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 4. Before the models hit the catwalk, their high-fashion beauty looks will be crafted and applied by the incredible artists of Lancôme, who will highlight the fall season’s must-have cosmetic palettes. Samsung, the global innovation leader in consumer electronics and mobile technology, is the event’s signature technology partner and will also showcase its fashionable line of smartwatches in a special catwalk presentation.

The glamorous spectacle would not be complete without amazing performances from the hottest acts in music. Set to ignite the stage with her smash hits, international pop sensation Ariana Grande will perform a selection of her chart-topping songs. A multi-platinum superstar, Grande’s music has ruled the charts, airwaves and dance floors in countries all over the world. Her latest album, Dangerous Woman, featuring the hit singles, “Dangerous Woman” and “Into You,” was released in late May to critical and commercial acclaim. Keeping the party at full blast, Flo Rida will also hit the stage pumping up the volume and the energy as he unleashes his monster hits on the audience. In just a few years, the Florida-born rapper has amassed an impressive slate of Top 10 hits, selling a remarkable 60 million singles worldwide; his most recent single, “My House,” is his latest No.1 smash.

Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row continues the company’s legacy of charitable giving. Macy’s is set to support the Council of Fashion Designers of America Foundation, Inc. and Ronald McDonald House New York, by contributing 100 percent of the purchase price, minus Ticketmaster and facility fees, of all tickets sold for the Sep. 7 live show at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Tonight, celebrities from the worlds of fashion, film, sports, art, and music will gather at The Met for the Museum’s Costume Institute Benefit. This year’s gala celebrates the exhibition Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, on view May 5–August 14, 2016.

C.L.A.S.S. brings innovation values to Arab Fashion Week

The first Arab fashion week earlier this month in Dubai put the spotlight on the creativity of international fashion designers for their Spring-Summer 2016 collections. The three days between October 31 to November 2 were dedicated to bringing the excellence of international creativity to the capital of the Arab fashion world, according to a press release by C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy), an international cross-platform and unique network that provides designers, buyers, media and stakeholders with a showcase of fashion, fabrics and exclusive material produced with the smartest and most sustainable technologies.

Three Italian designers hit the runway with their collections: Genny, Laura Mancini and Giada Curti. Among Internationals Designers, Abed Mahfouz, Mireille Dagher and the guest designer Tony Ward.showed the creativity of Lebanon. Others present were Atelier Leonleon and Claes Iversen from Holland, Adelina Rusu from Romania, Rodrigo Otazu and Sylvio Kovacic from New York, Ju Jordy-Fu from London, Selphie Bong from Indonesia, and Alanoud Al Attiya from Qatar.

The Arab Fashion Week was also a stage to discuss the important topics of innovation and sustainability.

With her 20 years of experience in the textile field, and as a pioneer in managing communication for the most innovative and renowned smart textile companies, Giusy Bettoni, founder and CEO of C.L.A.S.S., introduced and moderated the Luxury and Fashion press forum set up to discuss contemporary luxury.

Also participating were the President of the Arab Fashion Council, Jacob Abrian, who introduced and conducted the forum, Cav. Mario Boselli, Caroline Rush, Chief Officer of the British Fashion Council, Desirèe Bollier, CEO of Value Retail and Diego Basso, brand Manager of the AFC

Important topics were discussed, ones that are becoming more and more crucial for the greatest brands in the luxury world, for their entire production chain from industry to designers, and finally to the consumer. At the heart of the debate the key role of information, also about commitment by fashion brands towards new generations concerning creativity, but also ethical, environmental, healthiness values.

This is the intention that pushed C.L.A.S.S. to bring to the Arab world the values that it has been promoting since its foundation, the release said.


These values will be at the core of a new project for professionals in the field that will start next year. This upcoming new project will be called C.L.A.S.S. Education, a platform to educate and update on the newest innovations in the textile industry, with a special focus on the newest materials and production techniques, with lessons, interactive workshops, and tours to discover the most interesting brands in the luxury world.

This project is the result of the longtime collaboration between Giusy Bettoni and James Mendolia, professor at the Parsons School of Design in New York. The first among these workshops, Innovative Textile Solutions: Eco-Fashion Workshop, will be held in Milan at the C.L.A.S.S. Headquarters from January 18 to January 20, 2016.

SuperModel Tyson Beckford to host Allure Cayman Fashion Weekend


Just in time for those holiday looks, several of the most exciting established and emerging fashion designers will  descend  upon  Cayman  in  November  for  Allure  Cayman  Fashion  Weekend.  A  Caribbean  style experience and fashion show that is billed to change the face of fashion events in the Cayman Islands.

Allure Cayman is spearheaded by Pearlina McGaw­ Lumsden.  Pearlina is best known for her recent foray into fashion as the face and Executive  Producer of Beyond The Red Carpet, the fashion commentary program aired on Cayman 27. Pearlina is a well­ known Caymanian business woman, philanthropist and style enthusiast.


The fashion show will feature resort and swimwear, ideal for the Cayman buyer and, according to Pearlina, the idea is for the event to also draw international fashion consumers, designers and bloggers. The fashion show will also showcase chic designs and couture bridal wear.

“While we are totally focused on providing a leading edge fashion experience to our beloved Caymanians, we know the long term benefits of holding a fashion event lay in the tourism and economic boost it can give the Cayman Islands.”

Adding to this “boost” will be the international superstar guest host, Tyson Beckford. Hosting the show alongside Tyson will be Cayman’s own, Monica Walton.

“Let’s just say the ladies will be very pleased with their entertainment for the night and with the caliber of hosting,” she stated.

Our two local stars are joined  by  international  and  well  recognized  designers  BCBG,  Yumi  Katsura,  Kristin  Frazer  of  Trefle Swimwear, and Carlton Jones Collections.


Tickets go on sale October 12. Entertainment  for the evening includes local artist Stefan Contrell and artwork by Al Ebanks. The event will be held at Roof Top, Grand Cayman Beach Suites, Seven Mile Beach.

The event is sponsored, Department of Tourism, Ministry of Health and Culture, Cayman Airways and NKY Cayman Fashion Group with part proceeds to aid local charity, Lean on Me Committee.

Milan Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016 Gucci


The Women’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection is the product of a Situationist dérive: the playful practice of crossing and exploring urban spaces. The dérive adopts an unconventional strategy of geographical displacement punctuated by random and indeterminate movements. Paths take shape according to the stimuli of the city. These paths push toward the unknown and contemplate the possibility of getting lost  as an opportunity for learning and discovery.

Neverthless, the dérive does not exclusively celebrate losing oneself. It is configured above all as a clue-based technique for understanding the contemporary: an exploratory process of collecting and interpreting signs, suggestions, vital traces, emotional tonalities, and symbolic worlds.


These hints gather on the collection’s clothes to form eclectic palimpsests rich with heterogeneous references. The clothes are transformed into psycho-geographic maps capable of recording the urban unconscious: maps that embroider the world within a discourse of affectionate intimacy.  The reference is to the Carte de Tendre, published in 1654 by Madeleine de Scudéry: a map of tenderness, a moving topography of desire. In fact each object in the collection is offered up as a small atlas of emotions, a treasure chest of aesthetic references, a sentimental cartography in which patterns, extraordinary craftsmanship, and rarefied materials are interwoven.


The exploration of the world results in a tender mapping in which the aesthetic dimension is deeply imbued with the political. Indeed De Scudéry’s map celebrated a rebellion against conventions: a revolt based on the recognition of women’s inner world. “In this respect, the power of her vision can be inspiring even today, not only because her discourse contains a political affirmation of desire, but because it permits us to reposition sentiments on our own map, and therefore to alter the cartographies we use to navigate our world.” (G.
