Fashion designer Francesca wins Golden A’ Design Award


A’ Design Award and Competitions are proud to see that the design Gilda and Metamorphosis Collections by Fashion Designer Francesca De Blasi has been granted the notable Golden A’ Design Award at Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Category and chosen as one of the winners by the esteemed referees of the A’ Design Award & Competition within numerous nominations.

Concerning Gilda and Metamorphosis Collections

Gilda and Metamorphosis is a capsule collection, the special feature is the handmade details and fine design for print and technologies used to create the designs. Metamorphosis is a reinterpretation of an icon dress of the seventies: the wrap dress. The wrap dress, in fact, is a versatile dress identity and may have different meanings; it adapts itself to the body that is wearing it, emphasizing the female figure, being a strong communicative and seductive tool.

Concerning Gilda, garments are embellished with handmade petals and Swarovski crystals, and the research was more historical and cinematographic, and the collection is inspired by the diva Rita Hayworth.

The Golden A’ Design Award

The Golden A’ Design Award is a prestigious award given to top three percentile designs that has achieved an exemplary level of greatness in design. The designs are judged by a panel of three different jury which is composed of Academic, Professional and Focus Group Members. The designs are evaluated with score normalization to remove any biases and are voted on aspects such as functionality, ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, fun details, technology, and any other specific points that could be considered, each of these points are further weighted for different jury groups.

Nicki Minaj to release Fall 2013 line for Kmart in October


Nicki Minaj, the singer popular for her videos like Starships, is set to release an affordable clothing and accessories line for Fall 2013 in association with US store chain Kmart.

The new collection, scheduled for launch in October, includes sexy party dresses and club styles, comic book-themed tops, neon leopard print dresses, bold yellow skater skirts, studded black motorcycle jacket and super distressed skinny jeans.   There are also some ‘freak ’em dresses’, which includes bright patterned leggings, cutout baby-doll dresses, metallic bustiers and curve-hugging clubbing dresses for night outs for her older fans.

Onika Tanya Maraj, known by her stage name Nicki Minaj, is a Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality.   Because of her eccentric and colourful choice of costumes, wigs and clothing, the 30-year-old celebrity has gained the status of a contemporary fashion icon.

Kmart is an American chain of discount stores headquartered in the United States.

Fighting with Fashion – The 5th Annual LLS Gala

Talented fashion designers, celebrities and models gathered for an evening at EVR NYC for The Leukemia and Lymphoma society’s 5th annual Gala “Fighting with Fashion”. The fashion show proceeds went to support the LLS the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to increase funds for live saving blood cancer research and to provide support services to those touched by cancer.



The fashion designers April Marin and Mischka Velasco presented their Summer and Fall 2013 collections for a large and excited audience, produced by NYC Fashion Runway with models from Castings4U.

April Marin showcased chic dresses for the working woman that can easily be worn after work to happy hours and parties without the corporate look. Cocktail dresses in bold colors with square necklines and peplum dresses paired with ruffle shawls that can be used in various ways composed the designer flattering collection that compliments every woman. April Marin pieces are staples for having classic outfits with style.



Both designers dressed the Bachelor celebrities from season 16: Rachel Truehart, Jenna Burke and Jaclyn Swartz. “The gorgeous Bachelor girls embody the Mischka Velasco vision of a modern American woman. All of our clothes are handcrafted, sourced, produced and marketed at Soho NYC.We also been creating custom gowns and dresses meeting several times with each client to make sure we create the perfect dress for that individual” states the designer Mischka. The collection exhibited stunned the audience by her sumptuous dresses made of shiny silk and chiffon with flowy movements giving grace and femininity to the woman who dresses it. Slits and bias cuts make the Mischka Velasco creations one of a kind for the interesting mix she brings incorporating contemporary with sophisticated classic lines and daring construction. Trendsetters of the world must pay attention to Mischka Velasco, as she has everything to become one of the hottest names in custom design.

Gigi Carnett presented at The Windsor Gansevoort Park Hotel her summer lingerie collection directed by CEO Davina Reichman Schuck, her NYC Fashion Runway team and styling by Shannon Davis. The line GG Glam was composed of sensuous and luxurious lingerie for the woman who wants to stand out and show her curves in a chic and provocative way.


The designer selected luscious fabrics to her bikinis and lingerie made of classy French lace, silk and feathers richly adorned with Swarovski crystals and sequins. Gigi graceful corsets dripping with lace and embellishment were showstoppers as the outrageous shapes that she created .The designer added her spicy Brazilian touch on her designs in string monokinis with daring cuts and strategical sheerness.


Her ability to create exceedingly sexy pieces out of rather demure silhouettes was striking. The collection screams old Hollywood Glamour for the woman who wants to make a statement in the bedroom or at the pool. Gigi GG Glam pleads guilty if lust is a capital sin.
