Popular American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake will flash a designer wardrobe at the forthcoming second leg of his ‘The 20/20 Experience World Tour’, slated to kick off on May 30, 2014, in Abu Dhabi.

The 33-year-old musician has assigned the Italian-based English-bred menswear designer Neil Barret to create an array of custom-made looks for his upcoming high-octane stage performances.

Replete with graphical motifs inspired from the Bauhaus’ designs and Modernism doctrines, the stagewear range will feature minimalist clean-lined costumes, replete with the designer’s signature streetwear style tailoring.

In addition to Timberlake’s outfits, the Devon-born designer has also created costumes for the music tour’s band members and backing dancers.

Before the latest tour wardrobe design venture, Barrett had also collaborated with the celebrated singer on several other occasions in the past, such as the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards and the Legend of Summer tour with Jay-Z as well as various music videos.

Justin has a penchant for smartly created designerwear clothing. Last year, he had roped in American designer Tom Ford for his third solo album ‘The 20/20 Experience’. Ford created bespoke suits, ties, shirts and other accessories for the album video.

Trained from London’s Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art, Neil Barret had earlier worked in leading fashion houses like Prada and Gucci before founding his namesake label in 1999.

Launched in support of the Georgian-born singer’s third and fourth studio albums—The 20/20 Experience (2013) and The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 (2013), The 20/20 Experience World Tour began on November 6, 2013 in New York City and is slated to wrap up on December 20, 2014 in Atlanta.

MCQUEEN

The famous British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles has just unveiled a new spring-summer 2014 collection, inspired from the casual-fashioned looks of the late American actor Steve McQueen.

With an aim to pay homage to the charismatic star, whose passion for motorcycle riding had helped in popularizing the brand in the 1960s and 70s, the clothing range includes jackets, gloves, shirts, hoodies and jeans.

Based in jet black, the leather crafted McQueen Gloves features short cuffs and perforations on the back to provide proper ventilation to the motor bike rider’s hands.

Other than the aforementioned creations, the motorcycle company has also launched a special McQueen Capsule Collection 2014 which includes some vintage-inspired cotton made pieces such as a sweatshirt, two T-shirts, a polo shirt and a cap.

Founded in 1984, Hinckley-based Triumph Motorcycles had earlier marketed clothing lines dedicated to celebrities like Marlon Brando, Bob Dylan, James Dean and Elvis Presley.

WIZ OF OZ

To mark the 75th anniversary of the timeless American classic ‘The Wizard of Oz’, the Warner Bros. Consumer Products and the US-based Tonner Doll Company have come together to give a contemporary sartorial twist to all the female characters of the 1939 movie.

According to WWD, several leading names from the fashion industry have been roped in to create dresses for an eclectic collection of 22-inch dolls, which have been created based on the looks of the female leads, such as Dorothy, Glinda and the Wicked Witch.

Famous designers like Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, BCBG Max Azria, Hervé Leger and Carmen Marc Valvo will create an array of miniature dresses, slated to be unveiled during the upcoming New York Fashion Week (NYFW) at the Fashion Institute of Technology on September 4, 2014.

For Dorothy’s character, designer Chris Benz has crafted a blue gingham windswept outfit, inspired from the windy weather of New York, and fashion talent Trina Turk has recreated the gingham pinafore into a peplum jumpsuit adorned with rainbow patch to complement the protagonist’s trademark ruby slippers.

Clothing label Jenny Packham has designed a high-fashioned, modern innovative dress for the Wicked Witch and the hit television series Scandal’s costumer Lyn Paolo and star Kerry Washington have designed an eclectic ball gown for the broom riding menace.

In addition to the above mentioned names, Reem Acra, Erickson Beamon, Sue Wong, Carlos Falchi, Douglas Hannant, Betsey Johnson, Byron Lars, Charlotte Ronson, Anna Sui, Colleen Atwood and Ruth Myers will also be a part of the collaborative venture.

After its NYFW display, the doll collection will be later auctioned on eBay and the proceeds from the sale will benefit the international non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity, which is devoted to build simple, decent and affordable housing for poverty-stricken people.
