Zang Toi  hypnotized us with the beauty of Venice in dramatic yet quiet style.  Full silhouettes paired against mini dresses and skirts with capes and soft tailored suits with strong shoulders. A stand out in the collection was a dramatic coat with a hand-beaded nightscape of La Serenissima.  Presented in film noir style in muted  colors with a surprising hit of copper placed in key areas. A study in contrasting styles for dramatic effect.  The Hair & Make Up team were amazing, leading the MUA was Celebrity MUA Beauty by Rudy.  The Grand Finale brought the entire audience to a standing ovation.  What a beautiful, sophisticated collection.   ‪#‎btetv ‪#‎fashionavenews ‪#‎livestream ‪#‎mbfw #houseoftoi  #fabulousdarlingfabulous

Didier Ludot to auction 150 haute couture pieces in Paris

For the first time multinational auctioneer Sotheby’s and vintage fashion seller Kerry Taylor Auctions have come together to co-host a special auction selling pieces from the collections of Parisian vintage haute couture collector Didier Ludot.

Scheduled to take place on July 8, 2015 at Galerie Charpentier, Paris, the event will feature some 150 high-end creations, produced between the period of 1924 and the early 2000s, by couturiers like Paul Poiret, Yohji Yamamoto, Madame Grès, Christian Dior, Cristobal Balenciaga, Azzedine Alaïa, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, John Galliano and Comme des Garçons.

Selected by the fashion antiquarian Ludot himself, each piece for the sale has been picked up on the basis of its technical skills, beauty, and signature style of the respective designer as well as the elegance of the woman who wore it.

Some of the attractions include a sequined Chanel ‘little black dress’ owned by Romy Schneider, the Duchess of Windsor’s psychedelic 60’s dress, Loulou de la Falaise’s Yves Saint Laurent hat, Mona Bismarck’s Balenciaga cape, the sculptural Alaïa dress for Bettina and a Dior jacket specially created for Josette Day.

The collection also features a silk twill dress from Schiaparelli’s Summer-1938 Circus range, a 1969 metal and ostrich feathers adorned Rabanne mini-dress for singer Dani, a 1973 Vaughan-designed square organdie hand-painted evening outfit and a moulded leather bodice and chiffon skirt ensemble from Mugler’s Winter 1978/1979 line.

Didier Ludot owns three shops, selling high-end vintage fashions, in Paris.
